WHAT DOES THE CREATIVE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

We recently asked our creative director to give us an insight into the creative process, a look into how his team provides the awesomeness they deserve. His answer:

We all have different processes but I’m going to guess there are a lot of similarities in the way we do things. Here’s what I do… To stay inspired I constantly consume information.

The first thing I do in the morning is check Feedly, so the current windows open on my browser are; TED TalksLovely PackageVisual SundaeISO50The Design BlogGurafiku and Beautiful Type. It’s my little visual caffeine in the morning. Designers are driven by what’s new, what’s next and also what’s old. In our industry we need to stay on top of trends both technological and in design.

Then we have to get down to the real work, creating cool and effective stuff for our clients. I won’t bore you with the kick-offs and information we sort through to learn about the project. The real meat of what we do is collaborate. At Gage we have great content, UX and technology partners we work closely with to create great solutions for great brands.

Collaboration is key to get this greatness. In my perfect world a team would get together to brainstorm and concept an idea and we’d leave the room having a fantastic idea that no one really knows who it came from… Because it should be a real collaborative team effort and in the end it really doesn’t matter who came up with the original idea… We don’t live in a vacuum and the best ideas come from a good team.

Then we get our concepts client ready, present them (they always love them) and make it real. And the process starts again.
